BTEC Entry Level 3 and Level 1 Hospitality St. Andrews had the pleasure of welcoming Mr. Tim from BTEC UK to work with Mr. Mike to achieve centre approval to deliver BTEC Entry Level 3 and Level 1 Hospitality in the High School.

Last week St. Andrews had the pleasure of welcoming Mr. Tim from BTEC all the way from the UK to work with Mr. Mike to achieve centre approval to deliver BTEC Entry Level 3 and Level Hospitality in the High School, as well as to deliver what was very engaging and useful staff training for two days.

Mr. Mike and other members of his team were joined by staff from Steps with Theera, a very popular cafe and vocational training center on Ekkamai Soi 10 that St. Andrews is partnered with. We are lucky to be able to utilise their facilities and expertise for the vocational element of the BTEC Hospitality program.

BTEC is a world-renowned and respected UK vocational qualification chosen by over one million learners worldwide every year.  BTEC offers a range of professional qualifications for anyone taking their first steps into the world of work, progressing through their careers, or planning to enter university. When combined with academic learning in a school (or as a stand-alone course in further or higher education), a BTEC develops a range of practical knowledge and skills which help learners to prepare for – and progress in – their chosen career.

Classroom-style teaching combined with project work and practical, work-related activities help to develop students' behavioural skills, which can include teamwork, creative thinking and presentation skills. More employers and Higher Education institutions than ever before are choosing BTEC-qualified candidates for their academic and practical knowledge and skills.

St. Andrews will be running a trial of the BTEC Hospitality course for a small cohort of KS4 and KS5 students in the new year, and will be hoping to extend BTEC into the High School curriculum in the near future.
