Message from Mrs Wallace

As we approach our first major holiday of the year, it is with extreme pride that we can reflect on how quickly the school has settled into a buzzing, vibrant place of learning and community. I could write at length about how much our students never fail to inspire me. They truly are incredible and in the few short weeks we have been here, have exhibited all the qualities of being academically successful, socially successful and personally successful, with the prospect of being great citizens of the future. Yesterday as we celebrated the culmination of International Week activities we were reminded how fortunate we are to be part of this diverse and rich community. Certainly with my parent hat on I am reminded of what I believe is perhaps the greatest gift I will ever bestow on my two children; to have the opportunity to be part of this international melting pot of culture, where diversity, respect, tolerance and desire to make the world a truly better place thrive at all age levels, in all facets of the school. It was a brave decision on behalf of the community to go for broke and celebrate this important day so early in the term, and truly exceptional to see the wealth of support and parental advocacy in being part of the day, but I’m sure you will all agree the day was most certainly worthwhile, and bringing our community together so early on will create a great platform for the rest of the year. Feedback from many new parents was that it was a great way to meet some fabulous new people. So once again on behalf of everyone we extend our sincere thanks to all parents who supported and contributed, with a particular special mention to Leanne Nigro, Head of the Community Group, Alexa Dodge-Miller who coordinated the food fair and all our country ambassadors that pulled everyone together.

When we return from the break, it is full steam ahead with a series of events coming up. Keeping on the theme of food, our Regional Manager from SODEXO will be hosting a coffee afternoon on October 12th at 2pm about SODEXO improvements to catering, supplies and food concepts. Mr. Adrian Copeland is keen to hear your feedback. We of course have the Academic Review Evenings to look forward to, Project Week for years 6 to 12 just around the corner, and some great fundraising initiatives from our CAS students. Not forgetting lots to look forward to from the Community Group.

So please, I wish you the very best of holidays; whether you are travelling or staying in Shanghai, I hope you have plenty of time to rest and recharge, it’s going to be a busy few weeks when we return.
