From an early age, James knew that he wanted to be a teacher. He studied Primary Education at Leeds Metropolitan University and graduated in 2009. Since then, he has worked in four schools, teaching classes from Years 3 to 6 as well as leading MFL. He is passionate about teaching and is always looking for new ways to keep children excited and enthusiastic about what they are learning, using real life situations as a context wherever possible.
James has spent the last four years working at BIS Hanoi as a Year 3, Year 5 and Year 6 teacher. He was also the Primary Maths Leader. Hanoi was his first experience of working internationally and decided that he wanted to continue his teaching abroad. James' decision to move to Shanghai was largely influenced by the fact that his brother (also a teacher) lives here with his young family.
James is passionate about languages and has spoken French since an early age. He enjoys reading books in both French and English. James loves catching up with friends, listening to music and trying new things. He is also a keen sportsman, who loves football, running, cycling and skiing. It is important to James to stay active and he tries to spend as much time outdoors as he can.
