The British College of Brazil celebrated world maths day on March 9 th , 2016. Thetheme for the day was The Olympics.The children competed in a mini Olympic competition and collected points for theirhouse. The Olympic games involved the students to use maths to discover how fastthey could ran, how far they could throw, count how many sit ups they could do in aminute and how far they could jump. These score-cards were collated by the year 5officials who spent the day adding up scores to discover the winning house.The children also rotated through indoor activities, which involved usingmathematics in craft, indoor gym play and technology.The students also had a chance to use estimation and guess how many jelly beansthere were in the jar.We ended the day with a teacher race and well done to Mr Thomas and MsAmericanos for being the fasted teachers in the school.The BCB house winners were The RomansHave a look at the videos to see them in action!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WbCvqC33MV0
