Exciting Adventures in Primary
Year 4 and Year 5 set off this week on their respective residential visits to Ba Vi and Cuc Phuong. With a mixture of trepidation and excitement the children were waved off by parents on Tuesday and Wednesday morning.

Weekly Update from Mrs Rebecca Carroll 06/04/2018
Phase 3 invited parents, staff and pupils to their exhibition on the second floor this morning. It was a wonderful showcase of all the learning that has been taking place over the last term. There were Musical performances, presentations, puppet shows, art activities to name but a few. Our knowledge of rivers was put to the test with a ‘Rivers loop game’, meanwhile in 5B some students had gone missing and been replaced by Mr. and Mrs. Twit from the Roald Dahls classic, the Twits.

4S students get inspiration from IB Art Exhibition

Perseverance in Primary
Over the last two weeks in Primary assemblies, 4B and 5S have reinforced the importance of perseverance, not only in school but in life too. Ms Ower’s class told us the story of ‘The Tortoise and the Hare’ and cleverly adapted it to show how we can persevere even when storytelling. Today, 4B gave us some fantastic phrases to help keep us on track: keep going, don’t give up, step forwards, push yourself, everything is possible. In addition to these important messages, assemblies are a wonderful for opportunity for children to practise their speaking and presentation skills and it is wonderful to see our students doing so with such confidence and clarity.

Assessment and Reporting in Primary
We follow the English National Curriculum for Literacy, Maths, Science and use the International Primary Curriculum for our other subjects such as history, geography and art. The curriculum for literacy and maths has key skills and expectations for each year group from Year 1 to 6. The students’ attainment and effort for this term along with comments on their progress and has been issued today in the Primary December Report.

Primary Talk
Children across the Primary School are doing ‘Talk4Writing’ to support their literacy skills. It is an initiative that promotes children talking, telling and re-telling stories to support the development of their own language, ideas and storytelling.

For the Love of Reading
From the minute children are born, singing songs, reading stories and talking with children begins developing their language simply from listening to it. As they grow, taking the time to sit with children quietly and give them our undivided attention whilst reading stories, looking at the pictures and enjoying time together is precious.

Caring Primary Students
It has been a busy week in the Primary school, with the children being on full timetable and starting specialist lessons. Our superhero Captain Care is the theme for this half-term. Caring is one of our six characteristics that are part of our aide-memoire and Captain Care has been spotted around school this week. We have been talking about caring for each other but also how we take care of our belongings, our school and the environment.

Welcome back to school!
Welcome back to the new school year. It was wonderful to meet the new families on Tuesday and to welcome back our returning students the following day. The children have settled well into their classes and have made a fantastic start to the year. Our youngest children have done exceptionally well, coming into a new environment and starting school.

Hercules reaches new heights!
The performance started dramatically, with the cast of approximately 200 children on the stage, singing or accompanying as part of the orchestra. The story soon unfolded as gods and goddesses were seen setting challenges for young Hercules as a penance for his mischievous behaviour. The challenges led Hercules and his friend Ialous to visit strange lands to complete some dangerous, life-threatening tasks for the mean goddess Hera.
