Uprooting one’s life and moving halfway around the world isn’t easy for anyone. This reality is one reason parents of all backgrounds at BIS Hanoi have joined Friends of BIS.

While Hanoi’s British International School (BIS) has empowered students to become self-motivated leaders in the school since day one, they recently saw the need for a greater connection between faculty and students. They, therefore, established two positions that would be situated in the middle to facilitate discussions and manage the expectations of both sides.

For the past eight weeks our Year 11 students have been following a bespoke curriculum; the IB Preparation Course. The objective of this programme has been to challenge our students with subject knowledge and skills development beyond that of the IGCSE course.

This term, Performing Arts Department decided to run some lunchtime activities for our keenest thespians to come along and have opportunities to act and dance outside of lessons. As a result, ‘Starbird’ was born.

It has been a week of reflection in the Secondary section at BIS Hanoi.

As you are most likely aware countries around the world are looking at their own problems of racism, often towards their own indigenous and minority people and black people and trying to do better. Our teachers have been talking with students the last couple of weeks about Black Lives Matter and different countries responses.

Students have driven initiatives and addressed the school to promote the importance of health and wellbeing and this strong student voice is underpinned by the student leadership structure that has developed at the school.

Results are in! We are delighted to share with you that out of the 850 Nord Anglia pupils that entered the Young Musician of the Year Competition 3 BIS Hanoi Students are amongst those receiving awards.

Last Saturday (May 30), we celebrated the graduation of our Year 13 students and recognised their achievements throughout their journey at BIS Hanoi.

This term, our Key Stage 3 students participated in the MIT Challenges as part of their STEAM Curriculum, under the guidance of our teachers. After a period of planning the projects, this week, as teams, they presented their approaches to the challenge.

As school life returns to normal, the Performing Arts department have been swinging back in to action to see out the month with two exciting Live Lunch performances.

Last week, our future English A Language and Literature students embarked on a week-long project exploring the role of propaganda in the modern world.
