Year 6 Present Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat! Andrew Lloyd Webber’s iconic musical ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat’ finally came to BIS. With its family-friendly storyline, catchy songs and colourful costumes it was an ideal choice for the Year 6 production. Joseph was obviously his father’s favourite and therefore disliked by his brothers. Deciding to get rid of him, they sell him as a slave. How would Joseph survive in the far off land of Egypt? Would he ever be able to forgive his brothers? As the drama unfolded, the presence of characters like Joseph (all six of them!), his brothers, Pharaoh and Potiphar made you laugh and cry along the way.

The children of Year 6 treated us to a musical extravaganza. They choreographed their dances, designed costumes and produced magnificent scenery. The entire cast performed to perfection, all remembering their song words and projecting them with great expression. The audience were gripped from start to finish and could not help but sing along to classic songs such as ‘Any Dream Will Do’ and ‘Go Go Joseph’. Well done Year 6 on a superb performance and thank you to everybody who came along to support them.

Choral singing with Tim Rhys-Evans MBE, renowned UK Vocal Teacher, Conductor and Musical Director

Last month it was an honour to welcome Mr Tim Rhys-Evans (MBE) to BIS HCMC for three days, to run a series of unique ‘Choral Singing Days’ for our students and wider community, as well as workshops on university and career opportunities in the fields of music and performing arts. Mr Rhys-Evans is a renowned vocal teacher specialising in choral conducting and is currently the Musical Director at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and leader of the National Youth Choir of Wales. He is also the founder and musical director of the famous choirs; 'Only Men Aloud', 'Only Boys Aloud', 'Only Kids Aloud' and 'Only Girls Aloud'.

Embracing the culture and traditions of our host country Vietnam: Moon Festival 2024

Last Tuesday 17th September our Early Years and Primary students and staff excitedly came together to celebrate Moon Festival. Also known as Mid- Autumn Festival and ‘Tết Trung Thu’ in Vietnamese, Moon Festival is a significant cultural event in Vietnam. It’s held on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month of the year. This is also one of the highlights of international school life here at BIS HCMC as we value and respect the significance and embrace the culture and traditions of our beautiful host country, Vietnam.

Remarkable IGCSE results achieved by BIS HCMC students across all subjects

We are incredibly proud of our Year 11 class of 2024, for their impressive IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) results. This incredible cohort of 155 students, our largest IGCSE class in the history of the school, have significantly surpassed UK and international averages and were awarded 97% of all grades at A*-C. An incredible 62% of all grades awarded were at A*-A.
