BIS HCMC IGCSE Students Secure Outstanding Results with 1 in 3 Grades at A*

Far Surpassing UK Benchmarks

When compared to UK national averages, our students surpassed the cumulative grades of UK private, independent, and grammar schools. Our top grades are almost triple the UK benchmark. Furthermore, the number of students achieving straight A*s is 15 times higher than the UK average, and straight A*/As is 8 times higher. These results are a true testament to the world-class education provided at BIS HCMC.

Mr Stephen Kay, our Head of Secondary, shared his pride in the 2026 IGCSE results: 

“Congratulations to our IGCSE class of 2026! IGCSEs are an important milestone in the education of our students, and today we recognise the hard work, resilience and growth that these wonderful results represent.

Whilst our students can very rightly be proud of their results, we’d also like to thank our academic teams here at BIS HCMC and all our families who have provided such great support for their students throughout their IGCSE journey.

However, it is important to remind our young people that they are so much more than the grades they’ve received today. Academic results are just one part of our holistic educational philosophy, and we are committed to continually nurturing the character, wellbeing, and intellectual curiosity of all our students.
 
We’re incredibly impressed with the initial steps our students have taken as they begin their journey into the IB Diploma Programme in Year 12. Their enthusiasm and leadership already make them inspiring role models for our younger students, and it’s a privilege to support them through the next two years of growth and achievement.
 
The IGCSE journey has equipped them with the skills, confidence and independence to take on their IBDP. We wish all of them every success as they embark on this new chapter and continue to unlock their potential.

Early Achievers: Year 9 and 10 IGCSE Success

In addition to our 153 IGCSE students, an incredible 62 students took early IGCSEs in Maths or Mandarin. 52 students from Year 10 took their IGCSE Maths exams a year early, with 100% of them achieving A*/A. 10 students from Year 9 took their IGCSE Mandarin exams 2 years early, and achieved an outstanding 100% A*. This early success puts them steps ahead, securing incredible results before their IGCSE years have officially begun, and giving them a great advantage when applying to universities.

The Outlook for Top Universities 

While IBDP results are the main benchmark for higher education, top global universities, particularly in the UK and US, heavily weigh IGCSE performance as a reliable indicator of future academic success. These outstanding grades give our graduating Class of 2028 a distinct competitive edge on the world stage. 

Beyond the scores themselves, the seamless blend of the IGCSE and IBDP curricula equips our students with an exceptional foundation. Where IGCSEs instil deep subject knowledge and crucial exam experience, the IBDP builds on that foundation by sharpening critical thinking, essay writing, and research skills through core components like Theory of Knowledge (TOK) and the Extended Essay (EE). Paired with Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS), which fosters holistic personal growth, our students graduate not only as high achievers, but as well-rounded global citizens ready to stand out on university applications.
