“Brilliant Books” Week - We need volunteers:
To help collect the books from September 19th to 23rd. Time slots are 7:40am to 8:00am and 2:00pm to 2:30pm
To run the stalls on the exchange days. The time slots are 7:40am to 8:00am and 2:15pm to 3:00pm
If you drop or pick up your child, please consider giving a hand!
Collection days: This year the Brilliant Book Swap will be linked to our community programme, therefore the rule has changed. For every two books brought to school, the children will receive one token. The second book will be donated to our community partners. The community partners are; Anh Minh School (school for children who are hearing impaired), Binh Trieu School and Thien Phuoc (picture books only).
All books must be in good condition. Foreign language books are also welcome.
Musical project for parents:
Do you like to sing or play an instrument? We know we have a couple of talented musicians and singers among our parents. They’ve already proved it during our special TX events. The Parent Group is now offering you an opportunity to join in a special musical project; performing a song during the Christmas concert. All details are not yet finalised, but the aim is for the song to be sung by parents along with the TX choir. Rehearsals will not take too much time; we will soon be prepared to sing on the day. It will be a challenge as the song is in a foreign language. You can listen to it here:
The song is about hope and peace. Originally performed by Demis Roussos in the 90’s, then by Worlds Apart (UK famous boys band) in 2007 and now by a group of children under the Unicef banner. We are counting on you! Please send us an email to tx.ptg.bis@gmail.com or whatsapp Anne privately to be added to the list.
Parent lunch:
Our first parent lunch of this academic year will be at Chả Cá Lã Vọng in D3. Please register using the link below as we need to make the booking on Monday morning:
This week we had our first Parent Group meeting of the academic year with Ms Mary. 12 parents attended to discuss the events planned for Term 1 and the next steps for our Class Reps. It is great to learn that we now have a Class Rep for all but 3 classes! F1, F2 and Y6X are still in need of a Class Rep, so if your child is in one of these classes and you are interested in becoming the Class Rep, please speak to Ms Mary or your child’s class teacher.
All parents are welcome to attend the parent group meetings to discuss new ideas and community events. The next Parent Group meeting is at the end of Term 1 on Wednesday 7th December
Have a lovely weekend and see you all next Tuesday for lunch.
We are proud to announce the achievements of ten BIS HCMC students who have been recognised with the Cambridge Outstanding Learner Awards and Oxford AQA Go Further Awards 2024. These prestigious awards celebrate the highest performers in Cambridge and Oxford IGCSE exams across a wide range of subjects. This year, BIS HCMC students have excelled in Mathematics, English Language and Literature, Art and Design, Mandarin Chinese, Biology, Music, and Foreign Languages, showcasing the diversity of talent within our school.
Joining BIS HCMC in Foundation Stage 2 (F2) is a fantastic age to begin a lifetime love for learning, encouraged and nurtured by our experienced and committed class and specialist teachers, who personalise learning unique to every child. We look back at what our F2s have experienced in less than one term already at BIS HCMC.
Last month it was an honour to welcome Mr Tim Rhys-Evans (MBE) to BIS HCMC for three days, to run a series of unique ‘Choral Singing Days’ for our students and wider community, as well as workshops on university and career opportunities in the fields of music and performing arts. Mr Rhys-Evans is a renowned vocal teacher specialising in choral conducting and is currently the Musical Director at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and leader of the National Youth Choir of Wales. He is also the founder and musical director of the famous choirs; 'Only Men Aloud', 'Only Boys Aloud', 'Only Kids Aloud' and 'Only Girls Aloud'.
