On 11th May, BIS HCMC sent a team of four YR8 students to China to the FOBISIA Secondary Mathematics Competition held at the British School of Beijing.
Joseph Kang, Phan Ha Tran, Andy Kim and Tyler Nguyen worked tirelessly throughout 9 intense rounds of competition over 2 days including a catapult challenge, relays and a maths trail.
The team proved to be hugely popular with their fellow competitors and made plenty of friends during the event. We were very proud to take home one of the few medals awarded after Joseph finished first overall for the individual round – a huge achievement considering he beat 111 of the region’s best mathematicians!
The team were a credit to BIS HCMC and we look forward to following their successes in future competitions. Although, perhaps next time we shouldn't have such an early start...
An early start but we're on our way! Next stop Beijing for The FOBISIA Secondary Mathematics Competition! Good luck guys! pic.twitter.com/nTKgSC0gss
