On Tuesday 19th September, the BIS HCMC U14 Boys played a basketball match against the ABCIS U14 Boys - ending in a victory for the home team (BIS 42-30 ABCIS).
During the first half, BIS was not making smart choices and were not in good position, plus, not much passing had taken place. Furthermore, in defense, we had lack of communication which opened up wide 3's for the opponent. Hence, the ABCIS held the lead in most of the first half.
Starting the second half, in defense, BIS started to use the arrow formation efficiently, putting pressure on ABCIS having them to make contested passes which led to steals for the home team. Plus, we started to pass the ball around the 3 point line, which opened lanes for us to drive; we also passed to the post which lead to easy baskets for our team. Which led to our victory.
For me, the man of the match is also Khoa - when he received the pass in the key, he really put an effort into jumping and shooting the ball in the basket. Plus, during free throws or shots taken by BIS, Khoa worked hard to box out to grab the ball. Also a special mention to Ron; he didn't have many minutes of playing time as it was his first game. However, when he got on the court, he was composed and calm when he got possession of the ball, such as when there was a fast-break - he could of done the layup, but he faked his defender into jumping and then taking the shot.
We could have been more vocal on defense - switching on screens, calling who you're marking... etc. Overall it was a good game, and good competition from both sides.
