It's the summer holidays!
The meaningful integration of technology in the classroom can increase engagement, opportunities for problem-solving and pupil enjoyment.
Over the last fortnight, nearly 200 students in Year Two have utilized Bee-Bots to develop directionality, sequencing, estimation, problem-solving as well as to have fun. Bee-Bots not only serve as an entry mechanism for more complex robotics but used correctly, can be a versatile tool for teachers wanting to creatively teach classroom content.
It has been a fortnight of collaboration and productive struggle where the children have been challenged to think outside the box. Initially, the children began by familiarising themselves with how to program the Bee-Bots. The simplicity of the programming ensures that the children are not developing programming skills in isolation but through the exploration of mathematical concepts. The children worked collaboratively to complete the following tasks:
All tasks were set within specific parameters which meant the children had to persevere and work together to be successful in each challenge. The challenges also required a variety of different skills which ensured that there were high levels of engagement from all students. Undoubtedly, it was a highly educational and enjoyable experience for all involved.

Last month we were proud to have three student ambassadors attend this year’s NAE-UNICEF Student Summit, hosted for the first time ever in Houston, Texas from 12 to 19 June 2024. The event was hosted at Nord Anglia’s two schools in the city: The Village School and the British International School of Houston. Houston was chosen as the ideal location for the Summit thanks to being the first officially recognised “Child-Friendly City” in the United States of America.
