Learning in Action Discovery Morning in Foundation Stage 3
“…Time for a party, And presents and things, That make children happy, And give their hearts wings!” - Nicholas Gordan
As the BIS staff and students rocked out Jingle Bells to the children of Thien Phuoc Foster Home, a young boy could contain his excitement no longer and with purposeful glee took to the dance floor! Mr Shane Gallagher joined him in a celebration of joy and together they set the scene for the annual Thien Phuoc Christmas party! Children, some in wheelchairs, others lying on their cots, beamed with happiness and keen anticipation of what was to come.
Piled high on one side of the room were over 75 Christmas gifts which had been bought and wrapped by the BIS Year 1 students. These gifts representing the many special friendships which have grown over the course of Term 1 as a group of children from Thien Phuoc have joined the BIS students every week for a playdate in the Soft Play Room of the Early Years and Infant Campus.
Shrieks of delight and a loud “Ho! Ho! Ho!” announced the arrival of Santa Claus who visited each of the children handing out the personalised Christmas gifts. As names were called and care givers excitedly pointed out the owners, the room soon filled with ripped wrapping paper, abandoned bows and an abundance of Christmas cheer!
We would like to give special thanks to the parents of the BIS Year 1 students for their generous response in organising the gifts and ensuring yet another great year of friendship and fun with the children of Thien Phuoc Foster Home!

We are thrilled that four of our Year 13 students have recently gained offers from ‘Elite’ USA universities.
With over 1,200 students, staff, and parents participating in the 5km run or walk, the event was a true reflection of the school’s commitment to fostering a strong sense of community.
At BIS HCMC, our Primary Expeditions are more than just school trips—they are life-changing expeditions that shape our students into confident, independent individuals. Earlier this month, our Year 4, 5, and 6 students embarked on thrilling journeys to Long Hai, Can Gio, and Cat Tien.
What do you do when you have school uniforms that are now too small, or you no longer need them, but you don’t want to simply throw them away? For BIS HCMC parents, Bibi, Margot, and Ying, this dilemma sparked an inspiring solution—the Parent Uniform Upcycling Team.
