ADMISSIONS STILL OPEN FOR TERM 2
The Year of the Buffalo will be welcomed on the 12th February 2021, heralding one of the most significant holiday celebrations in Vietnam; the Vietnamese Lunar New Year!
The characteristics symbolised by the Buffalo/Ox are those of leadership, determination, hard work and dependability; all of which aptly reflected by the trait of “perseverance” in our school Aide Memoir and for which we strive. Likewise at that time, as we reflect on the past year and look with optimism to the future, we will continue to strive to act with integrity, to treat one another with respect and to care for our community.
All three BIS campuses received delivery of over 2000 plain cardboard boxes today, the first step in an ambitious plan to reach out to our community partner children and demonstrate our care by ensuring this holiday is equally special for them. Over the course of the next couple of weeks every BIS student will have the opportunity to personally decorate at least one gift box either in their Vietnamese Culture lesson, Vietnamese Language lesson or during a lunch break. In addition, they will be encouraged to write a note expressing their care as they reflect on the joy they will be bringing to a disadvantaged child.
With a small contribution of VND 150,000 for each box decorated, we will be able to purchase Tết gifts which will then be packed by students in January for delivery to as many children from our community partners as possible. We hope to visit each of the following partners to share these gift boxes:
Parents and staff are also invited to join us in this whole school initiative by looking out for the Tết Gift Box stall which will be managed by students from our Community Committee at this year’s BIS Christmas BISzaar on the 5th December 2020 where you too will be able to create a beautiful Tết box!
We look forward to seeing you there!
