At BIS HCMC, we are proud of our long-standing tradition of supporting students to gain places at some of the best universities in the world. While the United States and United Kingdom remain popular destinations, we are seeing a continued and growing trend towards top universities across the Asia-Pacific region, with this becoming an increasingly popular pathway for BIS students.
From Hong Kong and Singapore to Australia, Japan and South Korea, BIS students are securing offers from some of the highest-ranked institutions globally. This includes offers from some of the most prestigious universities across the Asia-Pacific region, further demonstrating the strength and global recognition of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP):
• National University of Singapore (NUS)
• The University of Hong Kong (HKU)
• KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology)
• The University of Melbourne
• The University of New South Wales
• The University of Sydney
• Monash University
• Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST)
• Waseda University in Japan
In total, 22 BIS students, that’s 17% of our cohort, have already secured offers across leading universities in Asia and Australia, with many receiving multiple offers from top-ranked institutions. These results reflect not only the strength and depth of our students’ applications, but also the breadth of opportunities available to them, with a number of these students also holding offers from top universities in the US and UK.
With further decisions still to be released in the coming months, particularly across destinations such as Singapore and South Korea, we look forward to celebrating even more success as the admissions cycle continues.
What makes these achievements even more powerful is the journey behind them. Our students join BIS at different stages, from Early Years through to Primary and Secondary, and are supported throughout their time at the school to achieve their individual ambitions and secure places at leading universities around the world.
Outstanding Success in Hong Kong
This year has seen exceptional results from our applicants to universities in Hong Kong, home to some of the highest-ranked institutions in Asia.
At the University of Hong Kong (HKU), ranked 11th in the world (QS World Rankings), we are delighted to celebrate a 100% offer rate, with all six BIS applicants receiving offers.

As shared by Paul Rispin, Senior College and University Guidance Counsellor:
“The global prestige of both HKU and HKUST means application deadlines fall as early as November, and the level of competition is always extremely high. This makes a 100% offer rate an exceptional achievement. Hong Kong truly is a hub of excellence in higher education—congratulations to all involved.”
Record Success in Australia
Australia continues to be a highly attractive destination for BIS students, offering world-class education within close geographical reach of Vietnam. And given Australia is home to nine universities ranked in the QS Top 100 globally, this makes it one of the strongest higher education destinations in the region.
While most Australian applications are submitted after final IB Diploma results in July, due to the higher predicted grade requirements for early applications, this year saw a record number of BIS students applying early—with outstanding results.
We are celebrating exceptional success at the University of Melbourne (QS World Ranking #19), where all 12 BIS applicants received offers, marking another 100% success rate.

With strong offers this year, these students may join the growing BIS alumni community at Monash, including nine students from the Class of 2025 who began their studies there earlier this year.
This trend reflects both the global recognition of the IB Diploma and the increasing appeal of Australian universities among BIS students.

Exceptional Success at South Korea’s Leading STEM University
We are delighted to celebrate an outstanding achievement in South Korea.
SiYun, who joined BIS in Year 9 at age 13, has secured an offer from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST)—widely recognised as the country’s leading STEM university—where she has been accepted to study Mathematics.
As shared by Hannah Moon, College and University Guidance Counsellor:
“Gaining admission to KAIST is extremely competitive, with only 40 places offered globally each year to overseas Korean applicants. SiYun’s achievement, alongside her offer from the University of Cambridge, highlights her outstanding academic ability and ambition.”
Building on this success, BIS students have also submitted applications to a number of other leading universities in South Korea. As offers are typically confirmed later in the admissions cycle, often following final IBDP results, we look forward to sharing further successes in the coming weeks and months.
We are particularly excited about potential outcomes from top institutions such as Seoul National University, one of Asia’s most prestigious universities, as well as other leading South Korean universities.

Prestigious University Success in Japan
We are also proud to celebrate an outstanding achievement in Japan.
Shun, who joined us in Year 8 at age 13, has received an offer from Waseda University for the highly regarded School of Political Science and Economics (SPSE), alongside offers from leading UK universities including the University of Manchester, University College London, and the University of Warwick.
Admission to Waseda represents a significant achievement. As one of Japan’s most prestigious private universities, Waseda is internationally recognised not only for its academic excellence but also for its exceptional global employer reputation, reflecting the strong career outcomes of its graduates.
World-Leading Universities in Singapore
Singapore continues to be a key destination for many of our highest-achieving students, home to some of the most prestigious universities in the world.
Applications have been submitted to:
• National University of Singapore (NUS), ranked 8th globally
• Nanyang Technological University (NTU), ranked 16th globally
Offers will be confirmed following final IB Diploma results in July. Based on previous years, including a record five offers to NUS in 2025, we are confident that this success will continue and excited for our students who have applied to these universities.
These results highlight the growing strength of Asia-Pacific destinations alongside traditional pathways to the US and UK.
From Hong Kong and Singapore to Australia and Korea, BIS students are gaining access to some of the most prestigious universities in the world.
The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme continues to provide a very highly regarded, globally recognised pathway, enabling students to succeed at their best-fit university destinations across continents.
Stay tuned as we continue to celebrate university offers from BIS HCMC students across the world.
