Pre-Nursery Sports Day

Pre-Nursery Sports Day - Pre-Nursery Sports Day
On Wednesday 17 May, Pre-Nursery students participated in their Pre-Nursery Sports Day event. Unfortunately, the weather was too wet to go outside, and the event took place in the Gymnastics Room. However, the weather did not dampen the spirits of the students. It was a fantastic event, with the pupils performing brilliantly. They displayed determination, perseverance and a great amount of effort.

Students showcased sprinting movements, a teddy bear relay race, a bean bag and racquet race, and completed an obstacle course. The event came to a close with our wonderful parents joining in for a parent race. It was wonderful to see so many students having so much fun!

At BISS Puxi, we are very proud of our PE curriculum which begins from the moment a child joins us in Pre-Nursery and continues throughout the student’s physical literacy journey at BISS Puxi. Our students receive the benefit of working with the same experienced team of teachers as they grow, develop and blossom from 2 years old until they graduate with us in Year 13.

Developing a fundamental movement platform is key to the success of becoming a healthy and active child, teenager or adult. At BISS Puxi, we help our students to master their physical ABCs: agility, balance, co-ordination.

Research has shown that students who struggle in fundamental movements are more at risk to disengage from an active lifestyle and its benefits.

Benefits of physical activity for younger students include:

  • They will develop healthy bones, muscles and joints.
  • They will develop healthy heart and lungs.
  • Their coordination, strength and muscle control will improve.
  • Their body will become more flexible.
  • Their balance and posture will improve.
  • Their brain will develop vital connections, leading to improved concentration and thinking skills.
  • They are less likely to develop chronic diseases, such as heart disease and type 2 diabetes.
  • Feelings of anxiety and depression are reduced.

The PE team are very excited for tomorrow’s Nursery and Reception Sports Day.
