Celebrating Global Campus in the Primary School

Global Campus can be said to be one of the jewels in the Nord Anglia crown. As an international family of schools, we are extremely fortunate to have access to our own high-quality online learning platform. In our drive to educate future-proof world citizens, Global Campus allows our students to develop their knowledge, improve their thinking skills and unleash their creativity.

Excitingly, Global Campus has been completely refreshed and relaunched for the new academic year! The platform has been made more accessible and engaging for students and has had an impressive amount of new content added. Delve into this virtual world and find STEAM challenges created by MIT, performing arts competitions curated by Juilliard, outstanding educational materials endorsed by UNICEF, inspiring writing competitions judged by acclaimed writers and motivating sports challenges.

Always ready to embrace new challenges, the teachers in the Primary School at BISS Puxi have been creating inspiring lessons using the brand new Global Campus content. Our students are currently engaging with the GC Virtual Musician of the Year competition, producing some exceptional entries for international art and writing competitions, clocking up thousands of kilometres in the Global Sports Challenge and preparing for the UNICEF World Children’s Day on Monday 20 November.

In the past two weeks, there have been two further exciting developments! We have appointed Chloe Ma in Year 6 and Marvel Wang in Year 5 as our very first Global Campus Student Leaders in Primary, and BISS Puxi has ranked as the top Global Campus school in the whole of China. Staff and students have received regional recognition for this.

As we strive for academic excellence at BISS Puxi, we simultaneously seek to promote internationalism and a fascination with the wider world. Our teachers are wholeheartedly grateful to our parents for their support of Global Campus and we have been receiving some wonderful accounts of home engagement with the platform in recent weeks! In recognition of this, we will be launching a series of celebratory certificates this term. We will be looking for students who prove themselves to be curious, creative, committed, collaborative or compassionate in their use of Global Campus.

This year promises to be the most exciting in the history of Global Campus! If you haven’t already had an opportunity to log in with your child, please endeavour to do so this term. The students are always welcome to post comments and material onto this exceptionally safe and carefully curated platform. Happy exploring - and you are always more than welcome to contact me with any related questions or comments!

Meet Mary Prendi

Celebrating Global Campus in the Primary School - Celebrating Global Campus in the Primary School

I have 22 years of teaching experience, 18 of which were as a Primary Teacher in the United Kingdom, and I qualified with a Post Graduate Certificate in Education at the UEA in 2001. I have spent the past year working for Nord Anglia at BISS Puxi in Shanghai. Prior to that, I worked in both an international school in Tianjin and a Chinese bilingual school in Shanghai.

I studied at Durham University for my BA (Hons) in English Literature and completed my PGCE and QTS at the University of East Anglia in Norwich.

I currently work as a Year 4 teacher at BISS and very much enjoy utilising my specialist experience in both English teaching and primary level pedagogy. I am responsible for teaching English, Maths, STEAM, Computing and EAL to my class.

I am never happier than in the classroom and love encouraging creativity, collaboration and a genuine zest for learning. I am passionate about children’s literature and seek to promote a life-long relationship with reading among my students. I am also committed to engendering a global perspective in my classroom and enjoy sharing historical, geographical and artistic adventures with the children

I am married with two daughters and two sons. My eldest daughter is studying at Edinburgh University and my other three children all attend BISS. My husband also teaches for Nord Anglia. As a family, we love travelling and exploring new places and cultures.
