On 26 and 27 September, things got a little creepy and kooky in the Secondary Auditorium as our talented students performed The Addams Family Musical School Edition in three hit performances.
Over 6 weeks, our students have worked incredibly hard to perfect their performances and have shown commitment to learning dances, practising lines and perfecting their singing. Despite the short rehearsal period, every student shone on stage, each creating their own unique performances as the living, and dead, members of the Addams clan.
One highlight was the incredible make-up, designed and applied entirely by Year 9 student, Yanlin Fazzone. Many audience members remarked on the high quality of Yanlin’s work and we are very proud of the incredible effort she put in to creating such a unique look for each of the ‘Addams Ancestors’.
Another important aspect of any musical is, of course, the band. Being part of the live band for a musical comes with a number of unique challenges, and our students rose to the pressures admirably. Led by Ms. Deborah Ferreira, our live band of students and teachers worked tirelessly to master the challenging rhythms within the score. They serve as a great inspiration to younger students and an encouragement to keep engaging with instrument lessons and music events, such as BISS Unplugged.
Through the performing arts students don’t just learn about Music, Dance and Drama, but also acquire skills that are essential for success in life. Students must meet deadlines, work with people from different backgrounds, take responsibility for different aspects of the production and take constructive feedback.
Congratulations to all the students involved in the production whether onstage, in the band or backstage.
