Last academic year a very imaginative Year 6 child approached Mr. Brett with an idea. She thought that the Be Ambitious skills, which feature in classrooms, were missing something vitally important! She passionately talked about imagination and creativity and how she believed that they were so important in student life that they should be added to our list of Be Ambitious skills.

Fast forward to the beginning of this academic year, and BSB Sanlitun is now thrilled to launch our new Be Ambitious skill with its very own brand-new stick man logo (designed by an imaginative Year 5 student).

This is real, tangible evidence of our Be Ambitious skills in action. We want to instill within our students the desire to propose change, to ask big questions, to think differently, to be brave, and now to be imaginative! We believe that by instilling these ways of thinking, being and doing within our students, we are better preparing them for the 21st century.

Year 4 Cranes class were inspired by both our new Be Ambitious skill as well as the artwork of famous New Yorker artist James Rizzi. Using his artwork as a spur for our own creativity we let our imaginations run wild and created our very own artwork in the style of Rizzi. We created a three level piece of cityscape artwork. The background features buildings, with the center focused on a busy road and in the foreground, a range of diverse people. James Rizzi’s style is bright, colourful and uses human faces to embellish cars and buildings. Rizzi tries to capture the intercultural feeling and ethos of New York (just like an international school!) within his artwork but most importantly, to us, his artwork is imaginative!
