Letter from the Principal re school closure – 21st Jan 2021

Dear Parents,

Notice of School Campus Closure

I am extremely sorry to have to tell you that we have been instructed by the authorities this morning to close our school Campus to all students from Monday 25 January, as a precaution against the spread of the COVID-19 virus. We will therefore be moving to live online teaching from next Monday. Mrs Nield, Head of Primary, and Mrs Harding, Head of Early Years, will be in touch with you shortly with further details about this. Fortunately, our teachers will be able to come into school to deliver the online lessons from their classrooms. Whilst we were all hoping that this situation would not be forced upon us, we have all the same been planning for a move to VSE in the meantime and so I am pleased to say are fully prepared to move to online lessons on Monday.

At the time of writing we are expecting to be able to continue delivering live online lessons until 10 February, which is the day we break up for the CNY holiday. If there is any change to this, I will let you know. I will also update you about the plan to return to school after the CNY as soon as we have had communication from the Beijing authorities.

One of the key lessons that we learned from the school closure last year was the importance of effective communication between school and home. We will continue to do all we can to ensure that you are kept fully appraised of any developments as and when they happen. The situation this time round is very different of course because the school community is in one place and in the same time-zone, which will make things far easier to manage for us all. Nevertheless, if you have any questions or concerns at all please do not hesitate to contact your class teacher or a member of the school leadership team.

Let us hope that this situation will soon pass and we can resume normal school life as we move in the Spring season.

With best wishes to you and your family.

Yours sincerely,

John Brett

Principal
