In Year 1, the children have enjoyed learning all about plants and their needs. We started the topic off by finding out the different parts of a plant. The children learned a catchy tune to help them remember roots, stem, leaves, flower. We made our own plant crafts and labelled them too.
Later on in the week, the children had the chance to dissect different flowers to see the parts themselves. Year 1 had so much fun being super scientists with their magnifying glasses!
Finally, the children planted their own seeds. They thought carefully about the things the plants need to survive and grow. The children decided to put their plants on the windowsill to make sure their seeds could receive enough light and were warm enough to grow happily and healthily!
All of the children in Year 1 have shown great Be Ambitious skills during our Plants topic so far. They have worked hard to remember to water their plants showing great responsibility and independence.
What a wonderful week - we can't wait to keep learning more!
