Our children went on to explore the next story called ‘The Gruffalo’. The children were excited in sharing their Gruffalo creations with scary eyes, green wart nose, terrible teeth and a purple prickly back.
They enjoyed retelling the story, role-playing some parts and making use of the refrains such as ‘silly old fool, doesn’t he know, there’s no such thing as a Gruffalo’. The children went on to learn the musical song of the Gruffalo and performed it for Performing Arts.
The children used clay to make Gruffalo footprints and designed their own Gruffalo using different materials. As part of a Steam Challenge the children were invited to make a log pile house for the snake using natural materials.
We then went on to learn about the number 9 and how to link numerals to amounts using different resources and positional language.
As we continue through the week, we will be looking at our next story ‘Farmer Duck’.
