We have been finishing up the stories following the various characters in our topics. We have finally found out what the Super Friends like to do on holidays, and how the EAL students at BSB Sanlitun have the same interests as them, making it possible for us to become Super Friends too! The various hidden treasures have also been discovered and donated to museums, as predicted by the Year 1 and 2 students, and an action which they happen to agree with too!
The Year 1 students have been figuring out what their classmates can and can’t do. They practised constructing questions to interview their classmates, and subsequently practised their speaking with a game of ‘Can you……?’ Some students decided to show whether they could do what they said they could! Most students were able to stand on one foot, but the instruction of ‘touch your nose and stand on one foot and turn around’ given by a student proved to be everyone’s downfall.
In Year 2, we have been learning about our Super Friends favourite activities and what they plan to do during the holidays. We were surprised when they were so like our own choices! The students then practised summarising the story using simple past tense verbs and shared their summaries with the class. Some students even enjoyed adding in the ‘fifth Super Friend’ and what they did alongside Misty, Thunder, Whisper, and Flash.
Once Year 3 found the treasure in the castle, it was only a matter of time before they decided to make some of their own. They had further practice using irregular past tense verbs while summarising the final chapter of our story, before going on to practise their speaking and presenting their work to the class. To practise their reading and satisfy the urge to create treasure on par with what the adventurers found, they read the instructions on how to create their own origami butterflies and ancient boats, and completed the task collaboratively.
