Caring for the Earth

Caring for the Earth | BSB Sanlitun - Caring for the Earth

The Reception children have been learning about natural processes through play and have been focusing on plant growth and the life cycles of living things.

Caring for the Earth | BSB Sanlitun - Caring for the Earth

They have planted a variety of vegetables, working with soil, using gardening tools, learning about different types of seeds, and observing what happens as their plants have grown over time. With the addition of snails to our classroom gardens, the children have been observing insects and learning how insects and plants help one another. They are making connections between all living things and understanding that we all need to work together for Earth to be healthy and flourish, as everything in nature is connected.

They have been monitoring our plant observatory to watch as the roots from our vegetables have grown deep into the soil and marveled at the life that is produced from such a tiny thing - a seed! They have learnt an invaluable lesson: the importance of our environment and how to care for it.
