This week there was a highly-anticipated ball game. Was it the Swallows versus the Giants? Was it the Yankees versus the Mets? The World Series? No! It was the BSB Sanlitun House Teeball Competition of course!
Teeball is a derivative of baseball which has the same rules, but we set up a tee to hold the ball before players hit it rather than having a pitcher. The advantage of this is that the tee helps young players to hit the ball more easily. The result is more hits and this gives more confidence to children when they are learning to bat.
Our teeball tournament included all students from Year 1 to Year 6 and we are happy to see that all the children enjoyed it. Teeball involves a lot of skills: hitting, running, and throwing and catching the ball. Most importantly as a team sport, players need to communicate all the time during the game and cooperate effectively to execute their strategy. It is good to see that everyone enjoys the fun of competition, and that everyone could fully participate in the games and challenge themselves on the field.
Teeball has proved to be one of the most popular sports children have learned in school this year. The tournament united all students in their house teams and gave everyone a fair chance to do their best and score points for their house. Look out for our final house competition of the year with House Basketball, coming up later this term.
