Last week in Year 1, we began our new pirate story, ‘A New Home for a Pirate’.
In our English lessons, we focused on making a list of things we would put in our very own treasure chest. We read the story, which the children really loved, then we moved on to thinking about things that are precious to us that we might put into a treasure chest. Once we thought of a few ideas, we then moved on to using adjectives to describe our items. Our Year 1s did a great job at this and had some very creative adjectives to add to the list.
For our final lesson, we invited the parents to have a look at how brilliant the Year 1s' writing abilities are. We all dressed up as pirates and wrote sentences together to explain what was in our treasure chests. To end our lesson, we made beautiful treasure chests, with our parents, using some junk modelling tools, glitter , jewels and much more! I think it is safe to say, all the parents were extremely impressed with how hard our Year 1s have been working in our English lessons.
Well done Year 1!

Today, our students had the wonderful opportunity to take part in two live broadcasts with CNN and on the important topic of Climate Change.
