These past few weeks, the Year 1s have been learning all about toys, not only recent toys but old ones too!
They have been making comparisons between old and new toys, looking at examples and sharing how they are similar and different. Some children even shared what kinds of toys their parents and grandparents used to play with too.
During the lessons, the Year 1s learnt that old toys were usually made from materials such as wood, metal and fabric, and that new toys are usually made from plastic. During the week, the children had great fun as they had a go making some old toys such as marble mazes, ball in a cup and spinning tops. They thought carefully about what materials to use, then used materials such as tin foil, straws, legos and string to make these toys.
The best part was that they could play with these toys with their friends after making them!
