Leserolle (Reading Scrolls)

Leserolle (Reading Scrolls) | BSB Sanlitun - Leserolle

Everyone will agree that reading is a fundamental skill for every child. But how can we make reading more fun and engaging? I found this wonderful idea of the ‘reading scroll’ (Leserolle) and we tried it out during the book week!

The ‘reading scroll’ is a creative product that promotes intensive engagement with a book: the children explore the book from various aspects, they complete pages which have different tasks about the book, including clues about the main characters and the author.

We can also use „Leserolle” to undertake interactive, creative tasks, such as creating a collage about the book, writing an email to the author, or even to come up with different endings and plot twists for each story!

The creativity of our students working with these projects truly showed no limits, as they carefully worked to create a colourful portfolio based on a selected story, spinning together pictures and collages entwined with their own thoughts and ideas.

The children on the German Programme had a lot of fun while working on their reading scrolls and completed some tasks for them in the school and others at home, sharing the experience with their families. I was very impressed with our children’s creativity, motivation and dedication to their „Leserolle”, and most importantly, how they were able to use this fun project to develop even further their love of reading and writing in German!
