BSKL Celebrates International Womens Week
BSKL were proud to support International Women's Week with a host of workshops, discussions and activities!
In Primary, several members of female staff hosted a week of lunchtime #ThisGirlCan workshops. The aim of these workshops were to share, inspire and connect with our pupils to raise awareness for gender equality. It was wonderful to witness pupils get active with our Hockey, Dance and Rock Climbing workshops. Our girls developed a greater sense of empowerment with Ms Quaite's 'Empowering Girls' workshop and Mrs Sackley's 'Be Proud, Be Brave, Be You' workshop. We also learned a lot about women in STEAM and women in Sport with Ms Saunders, Miss Murphy and Miss Beacroft. These workshops deepened and broadened our understanding of gender equity and brought together so many wonderful children to embrace one another.

The Social Impact team in Secondary created an insightful and thought-provoking video highlighting the meaning of feminism and the purpose of International Women's Day. It also focused on prominent women in Technology, such as Hedy Lamaar and Annie Easley, who have often gone unnoticed despite their incredible advancements and innovations.

In PE, our girls groups in Year 7, 8 and 9 had lots of fun during their Women's Day lesson. Designed with the theme of 'Girls Supporting Girls', everyone took part in a carousel of four activities: Water Obstacle Relay, Blindfolded Minefields, Team Skipping and (a crowd favourite) the Warrior Design Challenge! It was fantastic to witness the laughter and joy as our pupils came together for such a special occasion.

I would like to thank our outstanding female-staff body for their contributions and to every pupil who took part in International Women's Week. I hope we have all come away with a sense of empowerment as we continue to advocate for gender equality.
