On Wednesday 29th March, BSKL hosted a concert featuring 52 young musicians from Years 2 to 13. The audience was taken on a musical journey through a variety of different genres from classical, contemporary, pop and rock.
Students showcased their talents on the piano, clarinet, flute, violin, viola, cello, guitar, drums and vocals with solos, duets, trios, as well as in bands. For some students, it was their first time performing for an audience, and they did so with an impressive amount of confidence. There were three bands who performed: two from Year 7, 8 and 9, and the youngest, supported by their instrumental teachers, were Stanley and Sammy from Year 2, who thoroughly impressed everyone with their rendition of Blinding Lights. All three bands truly rocked the house! Another highlight was from Manuella Opondo (Year 11), who performed a stunning version of Adele's All I Ask, on the back of winning the Secondary Idol competition earlier that day. The concert was also a chance to celebrate individual achievements, with a number of students having recently passed ABRSM music exams, as well as the recent completion of GCSE and A-Level Music performance coursework. We are very grateful to BSKL's instrumental teaching team: Ms Sumi, Ms Claudia, Ms Amy, Mr Fadley, Mr Aidil, Ms Grace, Ms Sin Sim and Mr Loo for putting the concert together and creating these opportunities for the students. Well done to all who were involved. We are looking forward to more concerts of this kind soon.
As we approach the end of the first term and the joyous festive season, it’s the perfect time to reflect on the progress made and celebrate the achievements of our students.
