OUTSTANDING EXPERIENCES AT BSKLCaitlin's final audition:
Caitlin Teong, 13 years old, took a flight of 38 hours to New York City for the final round competition of The 3rd Annual Music International Grand Prix on the 29th April. The competition took place at one of the prestigious stages in the city- Merkin Hall, Kaufman Music Centre.
Caitlin beat the other finalists from around the world to become the FIRST PLACE WINNER in the category of Youth Popular Voice! She sang her favourite song — “ If I Were A Man” from The Unofficial Bridgerton Musical in the final round and “Don’t Rain On My Parade” from the musical Funny Girl in the Winners Concert.
“They were so many talented musicians from around the world. I was so scared that I would disappoint my parents and my vocal coach if I go home empty handed after travelling this far!” Caitlin said.
Caitlin successfully went through the Quarterfinal round by sending a video and the Semifinal round by live performance on Zoom. She was also the First Prize Winner for the Asian Region at Semifinal.
The Jury Elysabeth Muscat, the Director of the competition, said that Caitlin has a great voice, a really easy, strong belt, and a very magnetic personality. She’s born to be a very natural performer. While the other Jury from the Piano Faculty at Manhattan School of Music, Claudia Knafo, complimented Caitlin for her great stage presence. She said Caitlin is a very vibrant, expressive performer and she reckons Caitlin has a terrific instrument and is a great actress!
