BSKL's Class of 2023 talks about their journey to their preferred university. We at BSKL couldn't be more proud of each and every one of their achievements. This week, Riya speaks about her experience.
It was in 2020 that I was fortunate to join BSKL when my family relocated to Malaysia amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Regardless, the highly enthused atmosphere and the amazing encouragement along with the feedback and encouragement I received from both my educators and peers played a pivotal role in fostering a sense of positivity and self-assurance in my own strengths and abilities. Furthermore, coupled with the unwavering support of my parents, I was able to fully avail myself of the multitude of opportunities offered by my school, which ultimately equipped me with the readiness to forge ahead
As a result of the general counselling sessions offered in the 12th grade, I gained clarity on my career aspirations, which motivated me to embark on a thorough university search. It was during this search that I discovered my ideal university, the University of British Columbia in Canada. I did not restrict myself to only one application but was also eager to see where I stood with regard to universities, not only in Canada but also in the UK. Hence, with the guidance of my school counsellor, I applied to a number of universities in both countries.
I was elated when I got my acceptance letter from the University of British Colombia but that was just the beginning. Soon I got offers from the University of Toronto, McMaster and others. My decision to enrol at the University of British Columbia was driven by its reputation as a distinguished academic institution, particularly in the field of business management, as well as my personal aspirations and long-standing admiration for the university. UBC has a campus that is truly a marvel, both in its grandeur and its attention to detail. It offers a rich and diverse environment that inspires creativity, exploration, and growth.
I am immensely grateful to BSKL for facilitating the discovery of my academic strengths, and to the exceptional educators whose guidance and mentorship have propelled me towards my best performance. Furthermore, my parents for consistently encouraged me to follow my inner aspirations and wholeheartedly pursue them to the fullest extent.
I would highly encourage all my junior peers at BSKL to pursue their passions with dedication and perseverance and to strive for excellence in their pursuits.
I hope you had a wonderful break and are feeling refreshed and ready for another exciting term at BSKL. As we embark on the next phase of the academic year, we are excited to continue working in partnership with you to support your child’s growth, learning, and wellbeing.
