We were very pleased to welcome Year 9 students and their parents to BSKL's GCSE Options event on 15th November 2023. The afternoon offered valuable insights into the GCSE programme, and the range of GCSE subjects BSKL offers.
Kicking the afternoon off, Dr. Bruce Geddes provided a thorough overview of the GCSE structure. Following him, Heads of English, Maths, and Science Departments presented detailed overviews of their subjects. Their talks highlighted key aspects of course content and expectations, offering a clear picture of what our students can anticipate. A highlight of these presentations was two very confident and articulate Year 11 students sharing their experiences of GCSE English.
Following the presentation, Year 9 students and parents made their way around the secondary campus to meet with Heads of Departments to learn about the different GCSE subjects that can be chosen as options. These sessions were interactive, with parents and students asking questions to help guide their choices.
I hope that this event was beneficial for parents and students alike. Thank you to all speakers and attendees for their involvement. Your engagement is integral to the enriching learning experience at BSKL.
We are now looking forward to February, when Year 9 will submit their final GCSE subject choices!
On the vibrant Saturday of April 27th, the theater at BSKL resonated with the harmonious voices of over 400 students, marking yet another successful edition of the annual Big Sing.
