A journey into Computer Science with Queen’s University Belfast
A journey into Computer Science with Queen’s University Belfast
Last week, we Sixth Formers had the privilege of taking part in a sample lecture led by representatives from Queen’s University Belfast – a Russell Group University – providing us with a glimpse into the world of Computer Science.
The highlight of the event was an interactive session where we were introduced to Spheros – robotic spheres that could be programmed to perform specific tasks. Divided into teams, we were expected to programme the robots to solve various problems and missions. These missions ranged from stopping at various given points with precision or changing colours depending on the colour of the floor. This not only developed our understanding of coding but also fostered a sense of teamwork and collaboration among peers.
Feedback from students who attended the event was overwhelmingly positive. Many expressed a newfound interest in Computer Science, with some considering it as a potential career path. We extend our gratitude to the representatives from Queen's University Belfast for sharing their expertise and igniting a passion for technology among our students.
As we approach the end of the first term and the joyous festive season, it’s the perfect time to reflect on the progress made and celebrate the achievements of our students.
