It’s been a busy few weeks for our young Mathematicians with the KL Senior Maths Challenge and Pi Day!
We are delighted to share with you that 12 of our talented mathematicians recently participated in the KL Senior Maths Challenge (KLSMC) at Alice Smith.
The event included some challenging rounds including Fermi Maths Puzzles, Proof Maths, Calculus Special, a Maths Relay and a Treasure Hunt. Can you solve the question attached?
We are proud to congratulate all our students who participated: Christian Swifte, Ann Jee Tan, Jun Qi Mah, Zachary Lim Xuan Yong, Arthur Lu, Ying Lin Kuan, Yuxin Wu (Cindy), Yeonwoo (Julie) Ryu, Taehyun Kang, Matthew Oswald, Kangmin Kim and Jihu Shin!
We are looking forward to the next interschool Maths competition, which will be the Junior round held here at BSKL. Thank you to all of our students for representing our school so brilliantly!
Last Thursday, 14th March, or 14/3, or 3/14... (3.14159265...), we celebrated Pi Day! We celebrated with a variety of activities including the return of our Pi recital. Caleb (Y8) retained his crown with an immense 320 digits, 50 digits more than his gold medal total last year. Amazing work Caleb!
Another shout out goes to Tasnim (Y12) who won our “Maths/Pi” themed art competition.
And finally, thank you to our wonderful Sixth Form Mathematicians who helped organise. In particular to Zimo (Y12), Kay Kay (Y12) and Tasnim who baked Pi(e)’s of various flavors for all to enjoy!
As we approach the end of the first term and the joyous festive season, it’s the perfect time to reflect on the progress made and celebrate the achievements of our students.
