Sixth Formers and guards' heartwarming football friendly match
Just before the Easter break on April 3rd, the school community came together for a special event.
As the Student Council members got ready to go on holiday, they organised a football match that turned out to be really meaningful. A match between the Sixth Formers and the Guards. This match wasn't just about winning - it was about making sure that we recognise important members of our community. Sport has a wonderful way of breaking down barriers as we all become equal on the field, and several of our Guards have a real love for the "beautiful game". Throughout the match, there was a friendly atmosphere. The score kept going up and down, with both teams giving it their all. But beyond the competition, there was a feeling of togetherness. Players cheered for each other, and the crowd showed respect and support. From the first whistle to the final moments, the warmth and sportsmanship filled the air. The scoreboard reflected the rollercoaster of emotions as the lead shifted back and forth. It began with the Sixth Formers taking a 1-0 lead, only for the Guards to level the score at 1-1. Then came a flurry of goals, each team refusing to back down. 2-1, 2-2, 3-2, 3-3 – the tension mounted with each strike. In the end, the Guards won 5-4 proving that their love for the game was also matched with skill and talent. But what really mattered was the bond formed during the game. It showed that sports can bring people closer, no matter who wins. It was a special match, full of warmth, kindness, and the true spirit of sportsmanship.

As we approach the final week of this term, it’s the perfect moment to pause, reflect, and celebrate the incredible achievements of our students over the past months.
