Over the past month, Cikgu Arswini, Stanley Lao Shi and I have had the pleasure of listening to the responses to the challenge of 150 children. We were so impressed by the linguistic and oracy skills on display. The underlying value attached to the competition was Be Ambitious, and ambition was indeed in abundance as children spoke with eloquence, answering a range of questions in the foreign language they learn at BSKL. Competition can encourage children to go a little further and, on this occasion, we had the pleasure of hearing our pupils truly excel in the languages they learn. The showcase finale involved six Year 6 pupils competing head-to-head in a quick-fire quiz in front of the school assembly. They displayed the very best of themselves and were a shining example to their peers, in terms of ability and ambition. Well done to everyone involved. All participants should feel very proud. Medal winners’ points will contribute to the overall November House competition.
