This year’s event was one of our most vibrant yet, featuring an impressive and diverse range of vendors offering everything from handmade crafts and festive décor to artisanal foods, boutique gifts, personalised items, jewellery, children’s products, international treats, and much more. The breadth of stalls created an atmosphere of discovery and celebration, with families enjoying a truly global festive marketplace right here at BSKL.
Meanwhile, this year’s School Christmas Concert was a joyful showcase of musical excellence, filling the hall with festive spirit and highlighting the remarkable talent within our school community. Families gathered to enjoy a rich and varied programme that demonstrated the dedication, creativity, and hard work of students and staff alike.
Charity and Entrepreneurship
The celebration began with wonderful performances from our talented Primary and Secondary students, whose singing, dancing and musical showcases brought warmth and magic to the event. Their dedication and enthusiasm captured the spirit of the season and set a joyful tone for the day.
Our younger visitors once again enjoyed the two large bouncy castles, which remained a favourite attraction throughout the event. Their laughter and high spirits filled the grounds and added to the festive cheer that families look forward to each year.
A meaningful element of the bazaar came from our Primary students, who presented the charities they are supporting this year, as well as continuing to raise funds for Pink Day. Through thoughtful displays and conversations with visitors, they helped raise awareness and funds for causes close to their hearts, highlighting the compassion and sense of responsibility that our students demonstrate every day.
Our Primary Entrepreneurial CCA also drew much attention with their student-run stall, where they organised t-shirt decorating. They impressed visitors with their creativity, teamwork and business skills. Their efforts were met with great support from the community, showcasing the entrepreneurial spirit flourishing within our younger learners.
Diversity of Musical Expression
The concert kick-started nicely with a vibrant and confident performance from bands, orchestras and choral ensembles. The Brass Band, whose bright sound immediately set a joyful, festive tone. They were followed by a very polished and well-balanced performance from the Wind Band, whose control and energy drew warm applause from the audience.
The orchestral music was featured strongly throughout the evening. BSKL has three orchestras – Foundation, Intermediate and Advanced. These orchestras are open to both Primary and Secondary students, depending on their music level. The Intermediate Orchestra demonstrated impressive progress and maturity, while The Advanced Orchestra showcased exceptional technique and musicality, leaving many parents astonished at the high standard achieved by such young musicians.
The choral ensembles added warmth and richness to the concert. The Primary Choir sang two beautiful pieces, delivering them with genuine warmth and a confidence that impressed everyone listening. The Parent Choir performed with enthusiasm and unity, celebrating the joy of community singing. The Chamber Choir offered beautifully blended harmonies and refined musical detail, contributing an elegant choral presence to the programme.
The concert also celebrated the diversity of musical expression within the school. The Ukulele Ensembledelighted listeners with rhythmic clarity and cheerful energy, while the Jazz Collectiveimpressed with stylistic flair, confident improvisation, and a strong collective sound.
It is important to note that all BSKL students take mandatory music lessons as part of the curriculum from Year 2 to Year 9. We believe that music helps students develop different skills and assists in their studies.
For the first time, we also included a teacher-only group with all the classroom and SIPS teachers working together to perform Jingle Bells. BSKL has 14 Primary and Secondary Instrumental Music Programmes (PIPS AND SIPS) teachers and 5 music classroom staff dedicated to teaching students music. Their expertise shone through in this challenging arrangement, highlighting the talent they bring to the school and the strong musical foundation they instil in our students.
Throughout the evening, parents expressed amazement at the calibre of the performances and the commitment shown by every ensemble. The concert stood as a proud celebration of the school’s musical life—uplifting, inspiring, and filled with the spirit of the season.
A warm thanks go to all who contributed to the success of the 2025 Christmas Bazaar and Concert: our staff, volunteers, families, students and especially the many wonderful vendors who brought such variety, creativity and festive joy to the event.
