Sasha first competed at the SEA Youth Athletics Championships in Medan, Indonesia, where around 250 athletes from all 11 Southeast Asian nations gathered for one of the region’s key World Athletics–sanctioned youth events. Selected by the Malaysian Ministry of Education and the Malaysian Athletics Federation, Sasha earned her place on the U18 national team through strong performances at state and national meets.
She rose to the occasion brilliantly in Medan, securing a silver medal in women’s discus with a personal best of 41.46m. Even more impressively, five out of her six throws surpassed her previous PB, showcasing her consistency, technical growth and ability to perform under international pressure.
Less than a week later, Sasha travelled to Brunei Darussalam to represent Malaysia at the 14th ASEAN School Games, a multi-sport competition featuring around 1,000 student-athletes from ten ASEAN countries. The Games, organised by the ASEAN Schools Sports Council, provide a platform for young athletes to compete at a high level while fostering regional friendship and cultural exchange.
Once again, Sasha delivered exceptional results. She earned another silver in discus with a strong throw of 40.61m, narrowly missing the gold by just over 20cm. In shot put, she proved her versatility, navigating a tense, ever-changing leaderboard to secure a bronze medal with a throw of 12.86m for Malaysia.
Competing at two major international events within such a short window is a remarkable achievement. Sasha’s resilience, discipline and competitive mindset were on full display, reaffirming her position as Malaysia’s top female youth discus thrower and establishing her as one of the strongest young throwers in Southeast Asia.
