Year 3: Understanding life of a Roman

Year 3: Understanding life of a Roman - Year 3 Roman Life
Year 3: Understanding life of a Roman

Year 3s have been learning all about the Romans and what life was like in Roman times, and they shared their knowledge in a Roman Assembly.

They learnt about Julius Caesar and why he was an important leader, as well as how the Romans conquered many different countries and built a huge empire.

They also explored famous Roman buildings such as the Colosseum and learnt what it was used for.  The Year 3s compared the lives of rich and poor Romans and discussed how differently they lived.

They also enjoyed learning about the many Roman gods and goddesses and what each one represented. The Year 3s also had an engaging and fun Roman Day where the children took part in various activities throughout the day, making Rocky Road, making mosaics out of coloured paper, and writing a letter using Roman alphabets.

The class assemblies showed how much the children have learnt and how confidently they can talk about Roman life and history.

Roman history is important to the Year 3 curriculum because it helps children understand how the past has shaped countries from across the world and teaches them about leadership, society, and how civilizations develop and change over time.
