Outstanding Success in the British Biology Olympiad
Outstanding Success in the British Biology Olympiad
We are delighted to celebrate the fantastic achievements of our students in this year’s British Biology Olympiad — a highly demanding competition aimed at Year 13 A-level Biology students.
The Olympiad challenges participants with complex, synoptic questions that go far beyond the A-level specification and require deep understanding, critical thinking, and the ability to apply knowledge in unfamiliar contexts.
This year, 18,800 students from 1,132 schools worldwide took part. We were proud to enter 10 students from Years 8–12, all of whom demonstrated resilience and academic ambition by competing against students in their final year of study.
Well done also to Megan, Abigail, Henry, Simon and Zack for taking part and representing the school in such a prestigious competition.
A special mention goes to Shreya (Y12), Chloe (Y11), and Yee Rui (Y10), who were each awarded the Commended certificate — a superb achievement given the level of competition.
Congratulations to Polina (Y12) on achieving a Bronze certificate, and huge congratulations to Emma (Y12), who was awarded Gold. Only the top 5% of students worldwide receive the Gold award, making this an exceptional accomplishment.
We are incredibly proud of all students who took part and look forward to seeing their continued success in Biology. We would also like to thank Dr Ainsworth for organising and supporting students throughout this competition.
