This was clearly evident during a recent Strategy Day for the Primary Teaching, Learning and Assessment (TLA) Team, which brought colleagues together to strengthen practice and sharpen our collective impact on student learning.
The day provided dedicated time for teachers and leaders to step back from the pace of everyday school life and focus deeply on what matters most: high-quality learning experiences for every child. Through professional dialogue, research-informed discussion and collaborative planning, the team explored how teaching strategies, assessment practices and curriculum design work together to support progress, challenge thinking and nurture curiosity.
A particular strength of the day was the openness with which teachers shared expertise and reflected on their own practice. Conversations centred on innovating our professional development opportunities for all staff, improving reporting procedures, using assessment more effectively to inform instruction and, most importantly of all, ensuring learning is inclusive, engaging and ambitious. This culture of professional trust and shared responsibility is one of the defining features of teaching at BSKL.
Strategy Day also reinforced the exceptional depth of experience within our Primary team. Teachers drew on international best practice, current educational research and their own classroom insights to shape next steps that are both aspirational and practical.
We are committed to employing the world's best teachers, and by investing time in professional learning at this level, BSKL continues to ensure that our students benefit from reflective, highly skilled and forward-thinking educators; truly: the smartest person in the room, is the room. The full impact of Strategy Day will be seen not only in classrooms across the Primary School, but in the confidence, curiosity and achievement of our learners every day.
