Early Explorers Programme

Early Explorers Programme - Early Explorers
What Does the Early Explorers Programme Entail?

Early Explorers is a weekly one-hour session designed for parents and their children aged 6 months to 2 years. Rooted in the British EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) framework, the programme provides a nurturing and engaging environment for children to explore, learn, and grow alongside their parents or guardians.

Parents can expect a well-structured session featuring a variety of hands-on activities tailored to stimulate early development. Each session includes:

Sensory Play – Engaging activities that encourage fine motor skills and sensory exploration.
Arts & Crafts – Fun, open-ended creative projects that enhance imagination and hand-eye coordination.
Music & Movement – Singing, dancing, and rhythm activities to develop language and gross motor skills.
Interactive Storytime – Bringing stories to life to nurture a love for reading and language development.

Beyond these enriching activities, families will also gain insight into early childhood learning while experiencing our warm and welcoming school community.

Our Teaching Methods & Approach

The Early Explorers programme is play-based and child-centered, reflecting the best practices of early childhood education. Our teaching approach includes:

Hands-on, Experiential Learning – Young children learn best through play, so sessions are designed to be interactive and exploratory.
Parental Involvement – Parents actively participate, strengthening their bond with their child and gaining firsthand experience in early learning principles.
Individualised Support – We recognise that every child develops at their own pace, so activities are adapted to meet varying abilities and interests.
Social Interaction & Community Building – Children and parents connect with others, fostering social skills and creating a supportive network.

Through a balance of guided activities and free exploration, we aim to nurture confidence, independence, and a love for learning in our little explorers.

Teacher: Ms. Nicolle Chenjera

I come from the UK, and have a BSc in Psychology, PGCE in Education. With seven + years of experience in education across different age groups, I found my true passion in Early Years and Primary education. I have a BSc in Psychology, and it was during my studies that I gained a deep understanding of child development, allowing me to tailor learning experiences to meet each child's needs.

One of my greatest influences is John Locke, a renowned philosopher whose theory of Tabula Rasa (blank slate) suggests that children are born without preconceived knowledge, and their experiences shape who they become. This belief aligns with my teaching philosophy – that children are naturally curious and learn best when provided with enriching experiences that build upon their interests and strengths.

I believe that young children are precious, and it is our responsibility as educators/parents to meet them where they are. By fostering their natural curiosity and creating a joyful learning environment, we can lay the foundation for a lifelong love of learning. I am excited to welcome families to the Early Explorers programme and embark on this wonderful journey together!
