BSY Launches the First MIT Challenge: Building a Cure

BSY Launches the First MIT Challenge: Building a Cure - MIT Challenge 1
MIT Challenge 1
The British School Yangon (BSY) proudly launched the first of three MIT Challenges this year with an inspiring start — a brand-new display space and the debut of the BSY MIT Awards!

This term’s theme, “Building a Cure,” invited students from EYFS to Year 10 to think like innovators, scientists, and changemakers. From tackling germs and tracking animals to championing humanitarian rights, BSY learners showcased creativity, critical thinking, and compassion throughout their projects.

The MIT Challenge is part of BSY’s partnership with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) through the Nord Anglia Education global programme, designed to nurture future-ready skills in science, technology, engineering, and innovation. Students collaborated, experimented, and presented solutions that address real-world problems — embodying BSY’s mission to help young people make a difference in the world.

Adding a meaningful dimension to their learning, funds raised during the event supported global causes such as the Red Cross and UNICEF, showing how science and compassion can work hand in hand.

A huge congratulations to our BSY young changemakers for their remarkable creativity, curiosity, and empathy. The first MIT Challenge has set an incredible tone for what’s to come — and we can’t wait to see how our students continue to innovate and inspire in the next challenges.
