Held in the school theatre, the programme was thoughtfully designed for secondary students and featured a variety of interactive activities. Mr Vivek opened the celebration with an inspiring presentation on the significance of Pi (π) and its real-world applications, setting the tone for a day of discovery. Guided by Mabel as Master of Ceremonies, the event flowed seamlessly from one highlight to the next.
Students showcased their knowledge and quick thinking in the Pi Day Quiz, while Year 9 students Shwe and AMK added humour with math related jokes that brought laughter to the audience. A creative short video skit by Year 10 blended storytelling with mathematical concepts, demonstrating how imagination and learning go hand in hand.
The Jumble Mathematics Challenge, coordinated by house captains, encouraged critical thinking under time pressure, while the Pi Memorization Contest amazed the audience with extraordinary feats of memory — Ju Ju (Year 9) recited Pi to 126 decimal places, followed by Mao Mao (Year 8) with 108, and Leo (Year 7) with 81.
Excitement continued with the Fastest Fingers First round, where house teams competed to answer questions quickly and accurately. A special teacher round added fun and reinforced the idea that learning is a joyful, shared experience.
Beyond the theatre, Year 9 students curated a Mathematics Gallery in the reception area, showcasing the lives and contributions of great mathematicians. This exhibit not only enriched the celebration but also inspired visitors to appreciate the historical development of mathematical ideas.
The day concluded with closing remarks from Mr Eley, Secondary Head, who praised the dedication of students and staff. House results were announced, with Polaris securing first place, followed by Perseus, and a tie between Pegasus and Phoenix.
