Words from our Director

Hello CDS Families,
Words from our Director | 21 October 2022 | CDS Costa Rica - words-from-our-director

It has been a busy week here at CDS and that seems to be the trend this year! Thank you to all who came out to campus this past Wednesday to enjoy our first UN Day celebration since 2019. The event was highlighted by our parade of nations, performances by our delegations from Argentina, China, Colombia, and Mexico and of course, all the delicious food from around the world! Our community always shines when we come together to celebrate our different cultures and traditions. Thank you to all parents, students, and staff who participated in making this event one of our favorites!

As we move forward from the COVID 19 pandemic, we are still reminded of traumas that we experienced during the 2 plus years of regulations, closures, and quarantines and what I am most concerned about it the emotional wellbeing of our students. Globally, at all age levels, we have seen increased levels of anxiety, depression, and stress. Our collective mission is to help our young people recuperate their ability to build meaningful interpersonal relationships, solve conflicts, and manage stress and anxiety. At CDS we are committed to working collaboratively with families to address these issues and will be planning parent education events to inform, share, and support each other on the road to building our children’s capacities to socialize and support their emotional wellbeing. More information on these parent education opportunities will be posted in the coming weeks.

If you are experiencing issues with your child’s social/emotional wellbeing and would like support, please reach out to your school counselor or directly with me at jack.young@cds.ed.cr.

Thank you all and we wish you a wonderful weekend.

Highest Regards,
