From instilling a sense of social purpose in our students to advancing humanitarian causes around the world, our international school is committed to making the world a better place. Our annual Collège Champittet Foundation Ball is a wonderful display of our community’s solidarity and commitment to raising support for children in disadvantaged countries.
On May 24th, the Collège Champittet Foundation partnered with Children First to host a Charity Ball for the children of Madagascar. Ticket sales went toward supporting key social projects in Madagascar, including a school that provides free meals and education to 200 students each year; a hospital offering essential medical services; and La Maison des Enfants, a centre that provides accommodation and meals to 170 orphans and children in need, as well as scholarships for students to attend high school.
Held at the Beau-Rivage Palace, our Ball featured incredible performances by Japanese classical pianist Kotaro Fukuma and Spanish dancer Elisabet Ros, of Béjart Ballet Lausanne. Amid the Art Nouveau splendour of the Beau-Rivage Palace, these emotional experiences truly made this an evening to remember.
We held a charity raffle during the Ball, with top prizes including a private gastronomic meal for six, a superior room and spa experience at the Beau-Rivage Palace, and a Macbook. In addition, many supporters showed their solidarity by bidding in our silent auction, organised in collaboration with Piguet Hôtel des Ventes. Accessible online, the auction was open to bidders both near and far.
From luxury watches to original artwork and unique experiences, our auction catalogue covered a wide range of enticing offers, while two unexpected and delightful items were added later on: a private piano concert by Kotaro Fukuma, and the beloved blue toy car of our young guest Issa.
Through the auction, the raffle and the magic of our unforgettable Ball, we raised a total of CHF 123,680 for the children of Madagascar. We send our warmest thanks to all our contributors for your solidarity and generosity!
Collaboration often leads to innovation – and for three days in May, a group of our Champittet students had the opportunity to experience just that with 200 students from across Europe at the NAE STEAM festival in Prague!
