Collège Champittet was founded on the principles of educating students personally as well as academically. More than 120 years later, that tradition is still a core part of our values. Our school chaplaincy delivers a wide variety of spiritual activities for students interested in exploring and developing their faith.
The end of the school year marked a particularly meaningful period for our students preparing to receive their First Holy Communion or Confirmation. In advance of their First Communion, our students in Grades 4 to 7 attended a two-day spiritual retreat from June 5th to 6th at the Notre-Dame de Géronde Monastery in Saint-Maurice. Our students shared their learnings and reflected on their spirituality in this peaceful setting, accompanied by the prayers of the Bernardine Sisters. During the retreat, they visited the Abbey of Saint Maurice, attended mass and participated in confession.
Meanwhile, our students preparing to receive the sacrament of Confirmation also participated in a similar organised retreat in Estavayer-le-Lac, offering a moment of serenity and contemplation.
On June 19th came the big day of spiritual celebrations and milestones. Accompanied by family and the wider Champittet community, several of our primary and secondary students took a significant step forward in their journey of faith during our Corpus Christi Mass (La Fête-Dieu) at the Sacré-Cœur Church in Lausanne.
With the blessings of Father Philippe Matthey and Father Jean-Pascal Vacher, over a dozen students received their First Communion, and six students received Confirmation. Flute, cello and organ performances as well as the voices of our choir contributed to making this mass particularly emotional and memorable.
A huge thank you to our organisers and families for accompanying our students on this spiritual journey!
