At Collège Champittet, we encourage our students to take initiative and lead with passion. Our learners have many opportunities to organise events with purpose, whether it’s contributing to a meaningful cause with the Philanthropy Club, or spearheading a CAS project (Creativity, Activity, Service) as part of the IB Diploma Programme.
In September, Champittet students led two outstanding community events at our school – a local lake clean-up day, and a charitable chess tournament to support the Champittet Foundation’s humanitarian projects.
Champittet students, family members and friends pitched in on September 27th to help us clean up the shores of Lake Geneva. With patience, energy and good cheer, our volunteers got to work on a two-kilometre stretch of land, from the Haldimand Tower to the port in Pully. Equipped with gloves and bags, with each piece of litter they removed, our participants exemplified the values of our student Philanthropy Club: service, responsibility, and care for our shared world.
We were delighted to see members of our Champittet community of all ages doing their part to make a positive impact on the environment. After the clean-up, we gathered to share a warm reception of food and drinks – and a lively moment of community bonding.
On the same day, Champittet hosted a chess tournament organised by one of our boarding students. Chess players aged 7 and up joined us from multiple schools in the region – including Collège du Léman, La Côte International School, La Garenne School, Aiglon College, Haut-Lac International Bilingual School, and St. George's International School – to test their talents in an exhilarating 10 rounds of chess.
Our tournament not only nurtured the skills of young chess players but also contributed to a charitable cause. All registration fee profits were donated to support children in need through the Collège Champittet Foundation.
These student-led events are great examples of our Champittet values in action. With this year’s theme of compassion, let’s continue to make empathy and positive contributions part of our daily life!
