Shaping future-ready global citizens at Champittet

Future-ready global citizens - Future-ready global citizens

Collège Champittet is committed to educating the leaders of tomorrow: global citizens who will know how to act in a world that is constantly changing, and who have a firm sense of social purpose. As part of this mission, we encourage students to participate in projects that enrich their understanding of the world while opening pathways to making a real difference.

Practising diplomacy skills at Model United Nations

In Model United Nations (MUN), students discover the inner workings of the United Nations and international diplomacy by participating in conference simulations. This interactive role-playing helps our students to practise and strengthen important transferrable skills, such as critical thinking, negotiation, public speaking, leadership and collaboration.

So far this school year, our Champittet student delegates have attended MUN conferences at the International School of Lausanne, ECOLINT La Châtaigneraie, Institut Le Rosey, Aiglon College and Brillantmont International School. Each encounter brings participants face to face with new people and perspectives, bringing opportunities for intellectual exchange and debate over diverse global issues, such as AI and ethics, public health, the fight against modern slavery, food security, gender equality and sustainable development.

Villars Institute: Climate change and planetary health

Collège Champittet is proud to be a Founding Partner of the Villars Institute. Established in the Swiss Alps in 2022, this nonprofit foundation is dedicated to accelerating the transition to a net-zero and nature-positive economy and to restoring the health of the planet. Every June, we send a team of Champittet students to participate in the Villars Institute’s annual symposium, which brings together academics and representatives of organisations from all over the world. This gives our students a valuable opportunity to engage in intergenerational collaboration, sharing their views on climate change in breakout meetings and over shared meals while learning from environmental experts. Participating students have found this to be a life-changing event, enabling them to meet individuals who both inspire and challenge them.

Nord Anglia Education-UNICEF Summit: Global leadership in action

As part of the Nord Anglia Education family of schools, Collège Champittet collaborates with UNICEF to empower students to make a difference, both locally and globally. Through learning materials based on the UN 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), our students learn about the key challenges facing the world and reflect on how they can effect real change.

Attending the annual Nord Anglia Education-UNICEF Summit is an especially memorable learning experience for our students, enabling them to share academic and cultural experiences with peers from NAE schools around the world. This year’s NAE-UNICEF Summit will be held in Houston, USA from June 21st to 28th, offering students the chance to develop essential leadership skills through engaging workshops and training sessions.

Champittet STEAM Fair: Innovation for a better world

Our students connect science, creativity and problem‑solving skills through interdisciplinary STEAM projects, building on their scientific knowledge over the course of several months. This year’s theme, “Teamwork in Space”, highlights real-world challenges, such as the environment, limited resources and sustainability, while taking these issues to the exciting final frontier of space. Imagination and practicality are therefore both key for our students to develop their solutions.

With our STEAM Fair coming up in April, we can’t wait to see what our students will present. Whatever the results, they will certainly demonstrate collaboration and innovation – and a better understanding of future global challenges.
